Green Alley Award Frequently Asked Questions

After the unfortunate postponement of the 2020 Green Alley Award, we're happy that once again the application phase has started. Starting from 8 September to 17 November circular economy startups can apply for the 7th Green Alley Award. Check out our frequently asked questions to find out everything you need to know about this year's award.

# Who can apply for the Green Alley Award?

The Green Alley Award is open to European based startups no older than five years who have developed a circular economy solution in the field of recycling, waste prevention or digital technologies.

# Is there a fee associated with the entry?

No.

# What is the deadline for the submission of my application?

17 November 2020.

# What is the exact timeline followed for the Green Alley Award 20/21?

Applications for the Green Alley Award 20/21 will be open from 10 September to 17 November.  A circular economy expert panel will review applications during December, January and February. The Top 20 will be made available on the website for public voting, starting 12 January 2021. The startup with the majority of the public votes will be one of the six finalists. The remaining five will be selected by the circular economy expert panel.

# When will the Green Alley Award be awarded?

The Green Alley Award pitch event will be held on 22 April 2021 in Berlin. In the afternoon the six finalists will have expert sessions with circular economy and startup experts, followed by an evening event, where they will pitch their idea live on stage. After the five minutes pitches, the judges will ask questions and afterwards, determine the winner of the Green Alley Award 20/21.

# How many questions do I have to answer on the entry form?

The entry form consists of 19 questions, asking about the status quo of your business and requiring the uploading of a pitch deck and logo.

# How much detail do I need to provide in my responses on the entry form?

Answers should be kept short (150 words) but provide enough qualitative and quantitative detail to sufficiently describe your idea. The pitch deck and logo have to be attached at the bottom of the entry form.

 # If I entered the Green Alley Award previously, can I enter again?

Startups which have applied in the previous years can enter again and send their updated application.

# I have submitted an application to the Green Alley Award 20/21. When will I hear about the status of my application?

All entrants will be informed as to the status of their application in January/February 20/21.

# How will you deal with confidential data?

No non-anonymised and untraceable data will be shared outside the Green Alley Award’s Team and the circular economy expert panel. The evaluation process will be completely confidential. For more information, please check our Privacy Policy.

# Who is organizing the award?

The award is hosted by Landbell Group; a leading supplier of environmental and chemical compliance solutions based in Mainz, Germany. The award was initiated in 2014 together with Seedmatch, Germany’s leading crowd-funding platform. Today the award is also supported by Positive News, a UK based media platform.
