This year, the Green Alley Award celebrates a decade of investments and innovation dedicated to nurturing young entrepreneurs. As we mark this important milestone, we are pleased to reveal the top 20 startups that were chosen from 339 applications.

From these 20 startups, 1 will be elected by the public (most voted one) and the other 5 startups will be selected by the Award Committee to compose the group of 6 finalists.

The field of the projects concerned the digital circular economy, recycling, and waste prevention, has attracted an impressive number of initiatives. These startups represent the vanguard of sustainable solutions, showcasing the diverse and innovative approaches being adopted across the European continent in matters of recycling and waste management.

The top 20 startups, hailing from various European countries, embody the rich diversity of the entrepreneurial landscape. Notably, Germany leads the pack with 19% of the applications, followed by the UK (16%), Italy (11%), and Spain (9%). Each startup brings a unique perspective and solution to the table, contributing to the overarching goal of advancing recycling and waste prevention practices.

Textile waste emerges as a leading concern, capturing the attention of more than 50 startups. Similarly, food waste and packaging solutions boast 50 entries each, highlighting the urgency and innovation surrounding these critical issues. The finalists also address other vital waste streams, including municipal waste, critical raw materials, WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), and batteries.

The climax of this exciting adventure will take place in Berlin in April 2024, where the six finalists will be unveiled, and one will be crowned the winner, receiving the coveted grand prize of €25,000.
