Coffee lovers will agree: coffee is too precious to be wasted. In Germany alone, 7.2 kg coffee are being consumed every year per person. What’s left afterwards are the coffee grounds, a by-product that is being thrown away since there is no further use for it …

… until Julian Lechner from the German startup Kaffeeform came up with the idea to preserve it and to make something completely new out of it. Three years of experimenting with this new raw material payed off: out of recycled coffee grounds and renewable raw materials he developed a new material which now is used to produce coffee cups that are not only sustainable but also unique, food safe and durable.
