The Green Alley Award is here to foster and promote a variety of new business ideas in this field. ADAPTAVATE: Shortlisted for FIS Award 

(2015 Green Alley Award Winner)

We are delighted that our 2015 Green Alley Award winner has been shortlisted for the Sustainability Innovation category in the Finishes and Interiors Sector (FIS) awards alongside some inspiring nominees. FIS represents a growing sector, addressing key issues that affect the specialist members but also, more broadly, the construction industry and the UK economy. Adaptavate is dedicated to producing carbon positive construction materials made from renewable resources that are high performing, compostable, and capture carbon dioxide during production. The company's focus is on carbon positive plasterboard and plaster for sustainable construction. By utilizing these materials, Adaptavate is helping to shape a more sustainable future for the construction industry.

ATELIER RIFORMA : Milano Unica participation 

(2022 Green Alley Award Finalist) 

Atelier Riforma will participate in Milano Unica to showcase their new technology, Re4Circular. This technology helps fashion brands to manage their processes in a sustainable and transparent manner, by efficiently utilizing both unsold garments (deadstock) and collected used garments. Re4Circular also helps fashion and textile players to reduce their dependence on virgin resources and make their production more sustainable by using secondary raw materials. As a finalist in the 2022 awards, the Italian social startup is on a mission to reduce the negative impact of the textile-fashion industry and promote its transition towards a circular model. The mission of Milano Unica is to provide a high-level platform for entrepreneurs to showcase the best quality products in the textile-accessories industry with a focus on environmentally conscious products.

LIVING PACKETS: The box that can change the world 

(2019 Green Alley Award Finalist)

Living Packets, a Green Alley Award finalist of 2019, is supporting BZHunt in the secure delivery of its remote cybersecurity audit equipment. BZHunt specializes in ethical hacking and has chosen to use LivingPackets' THE BOX and digital platform to manage its deliveries and returns. The LivingPackets interface allows BZHunt to manage shipments, carriers, and their fleet of THE BOX.  Living Packets offers a packaging-as-a-service solution aimed at reducing waste packaging. Instead of charging for the packaging itself, the company charges for the use of their packaging services. This approach aims to create a more sustainable future by reducing the amount of waste generated from packaging. The company considers this to be the "packaging of the future".

ENTOCYCLE: Funding Secured

(2015 Green Alley Award Finalist) 

Entocycle, a Green Alley Award finalist of 2015 and UK's leading insect technology company, has secured $5 million in Series A funding led by Climentum Capital, a Climate-Tech Venture Capital firm. The investment confirms Entocycle's position as a leading player in the rapidly growing insect industry. The company will use the funding to develop a suite of products and services for insect companies worldwide, expand the team, and commercialize operations. Entocycle supplies high-quality insect farming technology and solutions, and its 'full farm' design helps convert organic waste into high-value insect proteins, fats, and fertilizers. The company was founded in 2016 to promote the use of insects as a sustainable protein source and has built two successful pilot facilities in the UK.

INFARM: Net Zero Target  

(2015 Green Alley Award Finalist)

Infarm, a vertical farming company and a 2015 Green Alley Award finalist, is committed to becoming net-zero by 2045 by setting science-based targets for reducing its carbon emissions. The company has submitted its targets to the Science Based Targets initiative and aims to reduce its combined direct emissions (Scope 1) and indirect emissions from electricity (Scope 2) by 42% by 2030 and 90% by 2045. Infarm also aims to reduce its indirect emissions from supply chain activities (Scope 3) by 48% by 2030 and 97% by 2045. The remaining emissions will be addressed through permanent carbon removal technologies. Infarm is the first Vertical Farming company to set science-based targets, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

CELLUGY: Sustainable cellulose 

(2019 Green Alley Award Finalist)

Cellugy, our Green Alley Award Finalist of 2019, is focused on producing cellulose through fermentation using microorganisms that feed on organic material. The rapid increase in petrochemical production is contributing to the issue, and there is a need for more sustainable, bio-based materials that do not harm the environment. Moving away from fossil fuels and towards renewable resources can help reduce pollution and create a more sustainable future. Cellugy's product, EcoFLEXY can provide functional alternatives that meet the needs of industries while also fitting into a circular economy is critical for creating a more sustainable future.
