TrusTrace: Honorable invitation

(2021 Green Alley Award Finalist)

TrusTrace’s CEO and Co-Founder Shameek Ghosh was accepted into Forbes Technology Council in December. This is a great honor as it is an invitation-only community exclusively for world-class CIOs, CTOs and technology executives. Shameek was accepted due to the depth and diversity of his experience. He regards his new membership as really beneficial for his circular economy startup TrusTrace: “Collaboration is key to achieve real innovation and positive change, especially in an industry and market that is still in its early days of maturity such as supply chain traceability and product transparency.” In Forbes Councils, exceptional business owners and leaders come together with the people and resources that can help them thrive.

Sulapac: Partnership with roots in the Finnish soil

(2017 Green Alley Award winner)

Founded in 2016, Sulapac can look back at some very successful years in which they gained many customers, among others Chanel. One of their latest partners is the UK-based, but Finland-inspired cosmetics brand Forest Spa Finland. The brand aims at giving people small moments of Finnish nature in between their hectic daily lives in urban spaces. This close detachment to Finish nature fits well with Sulapac, which has its headquarter in Helsinki and makes it a really special partnership. CEO Suvi Haimi claims: “We are happy to be able to work with Forest Spa Finland, as our values of sustainability and caring for our planet are aligned, and both have our roots in the Finnish soil”. Thanks to this partnership, both, the natural ingredients as well as the sustainable packaging of Forest Spa Finland products, are now provided by Nordic forests.

Green City Solutions: Absolutely sustainable!

(2016 Green Alley Award winner)

Green City Solution’s co-founder and CEO Peter Sänger was invited as an expert to the sustainability podcast “Absolut nachhaltig” (in English: Absolutely sustainable). Podcast host Pauline Thomas questioned him about Green City Solution’s moss innovations and how exactly they serve to counteract air pollution. Not only does he explain his company’s products CityTree, CityBreeze and WallBreeze, but he also elaborates on the questions like whether it would make sense to implement moss filters next to highways in order to clean the polluted air, or not. “Absolut nachhaltig” is a podcast to raise people’s awareness of climate change and wastefulness. The first talk was uploaded in November 2021, and we are already excited to see who the next guests will be.

Mimica: Joint efforts for vaccines

(2016 Green Alley Award finalist)

Mimica announced via their LinkedIn channel that they are teaming up with SureChill, a provider of a revolutionary refrigeration technology that works without constant power supply. Their common goal is to tackle vaccine supply-chain challenges. One of the major problems here lays in the fact that vaccines are easily damaged when not kept at the right temperature. When a vaccine leaves the fridge and is transported in a box with cool bags there is a high risk that it might get a freeze damage, for instance. With SureChill’s refrigerators and Mimica’s temperature-sensitive indicators, they want to achieve a quality assurance to reduce vaccine waste. This collaboration was brought together by Unreasonable Impact and the two companies receive professional support from UNICEF, PATH, Pfizer and AstraZeneca.

From a total of 381 entries, Repack was awarded with the German Ecodesign Award 2021 on December 6th. Repack’s reusable packaging solution received the price in the category “service” with the jury’s explanation: “The online mail order sector is growing steadily (…) At the same time, the consumption of single-use packaging material is increasing. RePack has invented a reusable packaging that makes it easy for consumers and retailers.” The award is a great honor for the startup who has been pursuing his vision that in the future “reusable will be the new normal” (Christof Trowitz, business developer at Repack) for almost 10 years now. The Ecodesign Award has been granted to startups or companies that developed sustainable products, services and concepts that are outstanding in their design since 2012.
