Monthly update from our startups

In 2014 Landbell Group initiated the very first Green Alley Award. Up to now more than 1200 startups applied for Europe's first startup prize. Among those our successful finalists and winners. To give them a platform and share their development and achievements with you, we're starting a new series. Every month we will share updates from the startups which made it to the past finals.

traceless materials: Ready to take off

(2021 Green Alley Award Winner)

Last year’s Green Alley Award winner traceless materials recently announced its new collaboration with CleanTech Hub. The think tank belongs to Lufthansa Group and is responsible for the company’s sustainable transformation and aims at finding adequate solutions to problems regarding emissions, waste and noise. CleanTech Hub works on various projects for which the expertise and innovations of the startup scene are needed. With the help of traceless materials’ biodegradable plastic alternatives, Lufthansa wants to make their on-board packaging – and particularly food packaging – more environmentally friendly. The driving force behind the initiative is Lufthansa’s aim to completely ban single-use plastic by 2025 and replace them by sustainable materials.

infarm: Supplying hyper fresh herbs

(2015 Green Alley Award Finalist)

In January Infarm announced to partner up with Crisp, the Netherland’s fastest growing online supermarket. By the end of March, Infarm will be the sole supplier of a variety of fresh herbs, like Italian, Basil, Curly Parsley, Thyme or Sage, which will be packed with their roots still attached to preserve their intense taste and freshness. The herbs are grown in Amstelveen which is just 20 km from Crisp’s central distribution location. Infarm and Crisp are a perfect match because both clearly focus on sustainability which is why Daniel Kats, Infarm’s Executive Vice President of Sales says “Crisp offers locally sourced, hyper fresh products to Dutch customers, with a strong focus on innovative and sustainable food. As Crisp’s single supplier of locally farmed, sustainably grown herbs, Infarm is the perfect addition to Crisp’s assortment of handpicked goods.”

Repack: Closing the loop in the US

(2014 Green Alley Award Winner)

This month, Repack shared the news on LinkedIn about their first collaboration with an US American brand: They partnered up with Future Fit Foods, a woman-and-minority-owned startup from Boulder, Colorado offering planed-based, nutrient-packed and affordable foods. That already sounds very sustainable – but what is missing? Right, circularity! Therefore, Repack is the perfect match and helps Future Fit Foods transform to a circular business. By sending their products “SUPPAS”, instantly fresh plant-based soups, in Repack envelopes they implemented a take-back solution for packaging waste. SUPPAS pouches are made of compostable materials, which have to be recycled correctly. Once the customer just sends back the empty pouches, Future Fit Foods takes care of the recycling process.
