The great issues of the green & circular economy at the centre of international events at the 22nd edition of Ecomondo
From 6th to 9th November 2018, the capital of new ideas for a sustainable future lies in Italy. During that time the beach resort Rimini hosts one of the leading exhibitions dealing with waste recycling, resource productivity and energy efficiency. With the European Plastics Strategy being one of the core topics at Ecomondo, it almost seems as if the city would arm itself for the fight against ocean plastics to protect the prospects of its costal charm.
But the expo has even more to show: Ecomondo aims to be a platform for all the leading companies of the green and circular economy sector and gives them the opportunity to meet, to discover trends, innovations and new technologies and to exchange views with sector professionals. This year, a special area will be dedicated to innovations generated by startups. One of the startups featured in this area will be the winner of the Green Alley Award 2018!
The OECD directly involved with a conference on the circular bioeconomy: Guests from Japan, USA, France, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium and Italy
European Strategy for plastics and its developments; the most advanced experiences of the circular bioeconomy in OECD countries and Industry 4.0 applied to waste management and use; the protection, recovery and reuse of water resources – these are just a few of the issues at the centre of the flagship events of the next edition (the 22nd) of Ecomondo, organized by Italian Exhibition Group, from 6th to 9th November 2018 at Rimini Expo Centre.
On Wednesday 7th November the conference entitled How to Implement the European Strategy for Plastics in a Circular Economy, will set itself the objective of giving a boost to the European Strategy for Plastics launched by the European Commission in February of this year, the first developments of which have been seen recently with the Brussels directive that bans drinking straws, cotton buds and other plastic products.
Circular bioeconomy is by no means new terrain for the OECD. The international organisation is taking part directly in Ecomondo with the event Circular Bioeconomy: National Case Studies of Innovation Ecosystems. By means of the participation of top exponents of the respective countries, a comparison will be possible between the cases of Japan, USA, France, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium and, obviously, Italy. The event will be chaired by OECD representative James Philip and Philippe Mengal, executive director of the BBI JU, the European Union's public-private joint undertaking dedicated to developing the bioeconomy in Europe.
