Success story 2018

RePack CEO_Jonne Hellgren

CEO Jonne Hellgren is looking back at a successful year: "We started the year 2018 with 7 operational countries and finished with 14. It was a good year in terms of scalability. In 2018 we were able to gain several new customers, including "Addnature", the largest outdoor retailer in the Nordic countries. Addnature is our biggest customer so far, so we are super excited and really looking forward to it." Jonne attributes the success of his business to a change in public awareness: “2018 was a year when the market opened up and companies started to take packaging trash seriously. The ‘Blue Planet Effect’ took hold and companies began to approach single-use packaging strategically. Also, the EU war on single-use plastics helped and the policy driven approach to reduce single-use packaging was noted.” In addition, RePack began last year to conquer the American market. Here, they set up a logistics hub for empty RePack bags and started a pilot project with the technical clothing company ‘686’. The pilot is still running but conclusive results are expected 2019.

Bright future 2019

RePack USA

Also, the future for RePack looks bright through Jonne’s lenses: "We are one of the very few concrete solutions in the market that already deliver and have existing customers so we see great potential in building up the business in the next two years." Milestones for 2019 are to increase the number of RePack deliveries to 10,000 per month, to attract 10 new customers in the US, to find alternative channels for returning used RePack shipping bags and to develop in collaboration with a global packaging manufacturer a new protective packaging for goods that need protection.

But in all his strategical business focus as a CEO, Jonne does not lose perspective. Our planet and how we use our scarce natural resources is still his main motivation: “The objective is to make reusable packging comparable in cost with single-use packaging!”
